BUCS Outdoor Archery Championships 2010

Here we will try to answer some common questions. If you have a question that is not answered here or the pre-event information pack (PDF, 103kB), please send an email to bucs2010@ubarchery.co.uk.

Has my entry been accepted?

Yes. All entries which were received on time and met the qualification score have been accepted and will be shooting. The final target list (PDF, 215kB) is now available.

Will there be qualifying scores?

Yes — the same entry criteria as last year will be applied. Recurve, compound and barebow archers must shoot a second class score, and longbow archers a third class score, in a round shot during a competition. Novice archers, entered in the Trophy category, must shoot a second class score (or third class for longbow) for under 18s.

The qualifying round must have been shot since the last Outdoor Championships on 13th June 2009 (scores shot at that event will count, so many archers will have already qualified). The round must comprise at least 9 dozen arrows and include the longest distance to be shot at the Championships or the equivalent imperial distance. For experienced gents, for example, the accepted qualifying rounds will be a FITA Gents, York or St. George. For full details, please download the Entry Criteria document (PDF, 57kB).

Qualifying scores must be submitted by Monday 24th May, the same day as entries, not 28th May — the information distributed by BUCS is incorrect.

Will it be Record Status? Will there be a dress code?

Unfortunately the shoot will not be Record Status. GNAS dress regulations will still apply, i.e. all archers must wear their registered club colours or GNAS green and white. Trousers or shorts are acceptable, as well as skirts or dresses for ladies. Note that strapless tops and “beachwear” are not permitted. In the event of inclement weather being declared, waterproof clothing may be worn which will not be subject to these regulations.

Will carbon arrows be allowed?

Yes.

Will there be camping?

Yes. Camping will be available for £7.00 per tent, per night. There will also be a refundable damage deposit of £50 per club.

What will the weather be like?

Hot, sunny, cold, dry and raining with gale-force winds around lunchtime. Probably. Please be prepared for all eventualities. Here is the BBC’s local 3 day forecast:

Which browsers are supported by this website?

This website is coded using standards-based semantic markup (XHTML for content and CSS for layout). It should display correctly on any modern desktop browser such as Internet Explorer 7+, Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera. Internet Explorer 6 has also been catered for, but you should really upgrade to something newer.

The site has also been optimised for viewing on mobile phones. It has been tested on Mobile Safari (iPhone/iPod touch), Opera Mini 4.2 and 5 (available for most modern phones) and Samsung’s Jasmine browser. Reports indicate that it also works with the default browser on Android-based phones but extensive testing has not been performed.
